Last Saturday 3/4, around 9 am, over 100 firefighters from 13 different fire departments responded to a fire in Camp Washington, Cincinnati. The fire spread throughout the abandoned building quickly due to high winds and combustible materials. The source of the blaze is still unknown. This was a particularily dangerous blaze due to the layout of the building being unknown to fire departments because it was not a residential or structural fire.A situation of the unknown” said Cincinnati fire chief Michael A. Washington. I was on the scene at 10:30am.

24 hours later, on Sunday 3/5, I went back to see the aftermath. The site was still on fire. The historic Crosley tower, which shares a block with the burning building, remained largely unscathed; except for the wall the Crosley Tower shared with it. However, the building in question was completely destroyed. Metal beams were melted, and the foundation had almost completely collapsed. I took a walk around the perimeter and took some photos of the carnage. The bold effort of the fire fighters is highly commendable. They were able to protect a historic Cincinnati landmark from destruction under extremely harsh conditions.
