This fall, Country Day theater students are taking on the roaring comedy Moon Over Buffalo by Ken Ludwig. Staring Carol Burnett in the first Broadway production, the show has everything that makes a farce brilliant: mistaken identities, slamming doors, and lots of innuendo. Set in the backstage of a theater in the 1950s, the play starts when Charlotte Hay, a formerly famous actress discovers that her husband, George Hay, has been cheating on her. She decides to leave with the companys lawyer. Unbeknownst to her, the legendary director Frank Capra is flying to see their performance that day in hopes of casting Charlotte and George in his new movie, The Twilight of the Scarlett Pimpernel; a job that could save Charlotte and George from bankruptcy. As the rest of the cast tries desperately to prepare for the performance and George becomes progressively drunker, the audience is left wondering how this show could possibly get any crazier.
Country Day’s cast and crew consists of seniors Rachel Epstein, Sabrina Finn (stage manager), Reid Gaede, Brian McSwiggen, Victoria Paff, and Douglas Tallmadge, juniors Marissa Beyette, Lynn Im, and Elizabeth Miller, sophmores Taylor Boggs, Kathryn Burress, Frank Grossi, and Donovan Salter, and freshman Anna Beyette. The performances will take place from the 24th to the 26th of October.
Continuing in the 1950s era, our thespians will be preforming All Shook Up by Joe DiPietro this winter. A retelling of Shakespeares classic play Twelfth Night using the music of Elvis, this show will be appreciated by intellectuals and fun-lovers alike. The arrival of Chad, a funky and rebellious motorcyclist, in a small town in the Midwest, throws the town into a whirlwind of excitement as he
encourages the inhabitants to follow their passions and dreams. Featuring songs like Blue Suede Shoes and Jail House Rock, this musical promises to be a rocking time.
