Suicide Squad is the newest American superhero movie based on the DC comics. It was directed and written by David Ayer, and stars Will Smith (Men in Black, Independence Day), Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club), Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, RoboCop), Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne, and Karen Fukuhara. Suicide Squad follows a group of imprisoned super-villains recruited by the government to perform dangerous missions in exchange for shorter prison sentences. The group of criminals must learn to work together to fight and destroy the supernatural entity threatening the United States, but it is only a matter of time before the villains realize that they were chosen for the sole purpose of being easily blamed if things go awry.
The plot of Suicide Squad was messy, but the dynamic characters made it fun and entertaining. One of the reasons the plot seemed messy was because after the movie had completed filming, the director went back and thought the movie was too serious. They decided to re-shoot many of the scenes so the movie didn’t flow as well. It gave the plot a choppy feeling. Thankfully, the characters had established a family dynamic that made the movie exciting and likable.
If you enjoy reading Marvel and DC comics, and are looking for a movie with humor and fun characters, Suicide Squad is a good movie for you!
