Country Day will be welcoming a new theatre director this year! Ms. Lisa Bodollo is excited to begin her tenure at our school. The previous Mother of Mercy Theatre Department Director and instructor will be offering Improvisation, Acting 1, and Public Speaking throughout this school year. Ms. Bodollo has an impressive theatre background coming to us from the Playhouse in the Park Summer Program, Mount St. Joseph Theatre, and Xavier University Theatre. She came to Country Day because of “the positive atmosphere and the already developed and strong theatre program.”
Her love for teaching and directing inspired her to pursue theatre. She “enjoys seeing a show come together after weeks and weeks of hard work.” Speaking of shows, she has many impressive shows lined up for this school year. The fall play will be AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, “a fun murder mystery with a twist.” It is based on Agatha Christie’s 10 Little Indians, and fittingly there will be 5 boys and 5 girls cast. For all you dancers out there, Ms. Bodollo will also be incorporating contemporary dancers into the mix. They will serve as the natives that tell the story throughout the show.
The spring show will be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. This musical is based on the story of Joseph from the Bible. Much of the dialogue is sung, with few speaking parts. This calls for a group of talented singers with “out of this world vocals!” She is “planning on a large cast of actors and top-notch technicians to pull off all the special effects in the show.” This high-energy musical will contain amazing lighting, incredible costumes, and marvelous set designs. It is looking like a strong year for theatre already!
Ms. Bodollo “can’t wait to start teaching and directing at CCDS, and getting to know all of the students!” She looks forward to watching all of the thespian’s hard work pay off when they take their well-deserved bows at the end of the shows. Be sure to welcome Ms. Bodollo as she becomes assimilated into our community.
