Looking for ideas for the perfect movie night? Well, grab your popcorn because I have plenty of suggestions for you! From Bridesmaids to The Sound of Music to Inception, there are multiple movies to choose from.
If you like action, then watch Pulp Fiction, suggested by Greg Foster ’16. He likes this movie because “it has Samuel L. Jackson in it.” Looking for something with a more religious aspect? Try War Room suggested by Sophia Isadore ‘18. This movie is “about Jesus and very inspiring.” For a comedy movie night, Zack Streit ‘18 and Will Swinton ’17 suggest Bridesmaids and Napoleon Dynamite, respectively. Swinton says he likes “watching movies with uglier people so I can feel better about myself.” For a more educated film check out The Prisoner suggested by Myles Jackson ‘17. Jackson loves this movie because “Mr. Black is [his] idol.” Olivia Robinson ’17 suggests Project X, an exciting film. She added (sarcastically) that “it reflects the true high school social life.” She also loves Bad News Bears, if you’re looking for a family comedy. Other student movie favorites include Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Inception, Nausica of the Valley of the Wind, Zoolander, and many more.
Now for those of you who are dying to know what teachers watch on their free time, here are some teachers’ movie suggestions. Dr. Franzosa loves Oceans 11 because of its “great cast and great story with a surprise twist at the end.” Dr. Tyrrell suggests The Young Victoria because “Queen Victoria is the definition of a strong female lead and the love story between Victoria and Albert is hard to resist, until you realize they were related.” Ms. Floyd suggests American Beauty, a dramatic comedy with Kevin Spacey. “It’s beautifully rendered and the message resonates with me—the resolution of what really matters in life is the simple truth of love.” Mr. Black recommends On The Waterfront, because “Marlin Brando is compelling as a mensch.” Sra. Robitaille’s favorite movie is The Sound of Music because of “two words– Christopher Plummer.”
Now I bet you’re looking forward to your next movie night! Whichever movie you choose you can’t go wrong. From The Young Victoria to Bridesmaids there are movies here for everyone. I hope you enjoy some of them!
