This past weekend, the CCDS boys
wrestling team competed in the CCDS Invitational. The CCDS Indians finished fourth in the meet behind Hughes, Reading B, and Preble Shawnee. The Indians finished high in their perspective weight class. Kit Morgan came in second in the 132 pound weight class, Ian Hayes finished second in the 160 pound weight class,
and Mantero Moreno-Cheek came in fifth. The Invitational was Will Bradys first tournament of the year, where he finished fourth in his respective weight class. Although this is Manteros first year, he exhibited many of the skills of a veteran wrestler. He placed sixth in his first ever tournament and fifth at the CCDS Invitational. Mantero believes his success is due to his ability to pin people in less than a minute. He feels his
weakness is being underweight compared to the rest of the competitors. He says he has been taken down by the same move 7 times and then my
opponent puts his near 300 pound body of me and chokes the air out of of my pipes causing me to be pinned. Seniors Kit Morgan and Omar Mustafa
lead this years team. As a senior, Kit has demonstrated his leadership abilities by placing well in the tournaments he has been in. The wrestling team will be heading to Columbus to compete against Marion Pleasant this weekend.
Wish them luck!
