Tis the season of Christmas lights adorning the suburbs and Starbucks warming students hands during the blustery mornings of December. Of course, no winter is fulfilled until the first (or second, or third ) snow day of the year. Although we Country Day citizens dread a morning missing our beloved bell sounds and pop quizzes, this guide will guide you to a cool, safe winter hiatus.
One must vigilantly beware the snow day neophytes common mistake:
wondering why the best school parking spots are available twenty minutes before school begins. Go home buddy. Once you awaken from your much-needed double bell of sleep, reward your body with a nutritious, balanced breakfast (preferably packed with fat, sugar, and carbs). I recommend pancakes, butter, and whole milk. Ready for an adventure, head out the front door of opportunity and prepare for a magical experience.
Step out into the winterful wonderland. BRRR.
Throw on your dads parka and swap those Sperrys for mommas snow boots. Okay, were back. Observe the children frolicking, parents photographing, snow plows plowing. If your neighborhood has an Everest to sled down, preferably situated away from traffic, grab a garbage lid, history textbook, or any other massive flat object that can support your body weight. In the absence of significant topography, locate a big, open field fit for arctic combat. Challenge your friend (or enemy) to a duel. To engage
in said clash, take time to sculpt your Sistine Chapel snowball. Back against back, the contestants walk ten paces. A neutral party will shoot the track pistol to indicate the firefight has begun. You know what to do.
Alas, as the day comes to an end, you return home to an e-mail inbox stuffed with assignments and test reschedulings. As you return to your readings and worksheets, dont fear the tumultuous road ahead. Rather, remember the good times you had.
