Over the years, the spring play has taken many different forms, such as one-act plays or student-directed performances. This year, Mark Femia has decided to add another genre to the
list: the 24-Hour Theatre Project. The name says it all: the process takes a total of 24 hours. Mr. Femias ultimate goals [is] to have two or three short one acts that [will be presented] to the public.
On Friday, April 19, students will arrive at school in the evening with a prop for inspiration. Then, the writers will get to work. Through the night they will write
a few short one acts, while the actors sleep. Once the writers have finished, they present their plays to the directors and actors. The actors are cast into roles by the directors and writers. As the writers sleep, the directors and actors putting the plays into action. Throughout the day, the actors will stage the play, rehearse, memorize their lines, and get prepared to perform the plays. That evening, Saturday the 20th, the plays will be put on in the Keeler Theatre for the public.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the 24 Hour Play by acting, writing, directing, or doing a combination of the three–that is if you can stay awake for 24 hours. To reserve a spot, go to Mr. Femias office and add your name to the sign-up sheet.
