Get excited. Homecoming this year is going to be held here at school and its going to be a crazy-fun starry night rave.
Studentsask your dates, buy your tickets and get ready for an amazing night. Student Council is going all out with some secret decorations, lights, and supplies. While I cant share too many details, I can let you in on one little secret: this is a dance you will not want to miss. Ticket sales start Monday, 10/8 in Mrs. Mapes office and each and every one of you need to be sure to stop in and purchase a ticket (one for $15 or a couple for $25). Also, remember that student council decided to switch things up and keep homecoming here at home and take winter formal off campus. Despite the change, the dance routine will still remain the same.
Opening up the homecoming activities is truly the best week of the school year: spirit week. The basic idea behind spirit week is to get everyone truly pumped up and ready to go for the big Homecoming football game (against the Lockland Panthers). Now this only works if every single student and teacher in the Upper School participates. Not only does this help create enthusiasm for CCD as a whole, but it makes the week much more fun. I would love it if I had to scour the entire Upper School in order to simply find someone out of spirit dress.
This year, the spirit days are as follows:
Monday 10/15U S dAy
Just exactly what it sounds like: represent your country well and walk into school on Monday wearing red, white and blue from head to toe.
Tuesday 10/16Dynamic Duo Day
On Tuesday, coordinate with a friend and come up with your favorite pairwhether its Mr. and Mrs. Dunn, Tom and Jerry, or Thing 1 and Thing 2, the only rules are to be creative and go all out.
Wednesday 10/17Derby Day
You could take Derby Day in two directionsdress up as the horse or the viewer. However, for most of our school, Wednesday will turn into Dress to Impress Wednesday with a new level of preppiness even for Country Day. Againgo all out. Pearls, pink and green, polos and hats. Very big hats.
Thursday 10/18Back in the Day
Thursday changes depending on the year, so Freshmen: get ready with your poodle skirts and leather outfits as you throw back into the 50s. Sophomores: pull out your bell bottoms and your inner hippie and prepare to dive in to the disco age of the 70s. Juniors: think Clueless as you go back in time to the 90s, a time of grunge fashion, high-wasted jeans, and baby doll dresses. Seniors: go all out with your 80s fashion. Leggings, leg warmers, headbands and color are just a few things to keep in mind when figuring out your outfits. And last but not least the faculty: teachers, were counting on you to be involved all week, but on Thursday, you all have the sole responsibility of representing the 60s. Pull out all the stops and show your Country Day pride.
Friday 10/19Cincinnati Country Day Day
Friday may be the most important day of all. We want every single student to show up wearing spirit dressevery
piece of clothing completely blue and white. The Pep Rally is Friday afternoon, and the Upper School must set a good example of school pride and we stand out in front of the rest of the student body.
Everyone start thinking about your outfits, buy your homecoming tickets and, again, get excitedits going to be a great week!
