I’ve tested out all the Real Housewives series. Orange County. New York. New Jersey. DC (a flop). Even Atlanta. My absolute favorite? Beverly Hills. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are, simply put, fabulous. The stunningly rich moms of LA don’t even compare with the others. When the commercials for Beverly Hills first aired, my mom, sister and I could instantly tell these girls would be our favorites. The other housewives only seem to have the appearance of wealth while those of Beverly Hills are the real deal. They are far more glamorous than any of the other Housewives shows. I’m over the fake tans and bad hair of the Orange County moms. I’m sick of the cattiness and Manhattan attitudes of the New York gals. I can’t stand to hear another New Jersey accent and Atlanta bored me within seconds. I am however, hooked on Beverly Hills.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (or RHOBH for those in the know) is a guilty pleasure that I crave. The “Housewives” truly make the show entertaining and juicy. Kyle, Kim, Adrienne, Lisa, Taylor, Camille, and the two newbies Dana and Brandy are the height of class (sort of), wealth (have you seen their houses!?), and style. Kyle and Kim are child/teen actresses and sisters who fight with each other more than they fight with the others. Adrienne Maloof, the semi-boring one, seems to own an empire; I relish watching her throw parties and spend money like there is no tomorrow. Lisa Vanderpump is the blunt Brit who keeps the others in line and who is not afraid to speak her mind (but her accent makes everything sound nice). Taylor, the rail-thin, puffy-lipped, softie of the group and the recent center of media attention due to the suicide of her husband, yearns to fit into the Beverly Hills lifestyle. Camille is finally the friend, not the foe this season, though I have always enjoyed following her life, especially to gain insight into her dramatic divorce from Kelsey Grammer. Dana and Brandy are recent additions but in just the two episodes they have already stirred the pot quite a bit. Dana drops names and labels every other sentence (“Check out my sunglasses, they were $25,000!”) and Brandy is biting, caustic, and ditzy: she thought Winston Churchill was African American!
I love the drama that these girls cause and thrive off of. I love their clothes, shoes, and their lifestyle. Mostly, I love that most of these moms of Beverly Hills are actually “somebody”. Kyle and Kim were actually in movies, Adrienne is a Maloof (a big, wealthy, influential family), Lisa is British and filthy rich, while Camille was married to Kelsey Grammer! I’m looking forward to the continued luxuries and glamour of Beverly Hills and the ensuing drama that occurs whenever the girls get together. I long to see how Bravo handles Russell Armstrong’s suicide. Tune in to Bravo on Tuesdays at 10 to watch!
