While most of the Junior class was gone last weekend, engaging in frivolous outdoor activities like white-water rafting and rappelling, some studious Juniors were at home working away.
Annie Nesbitt 13 was kept busy all weekend by watching the first four seasons of Scrubs. Her valiant effort to watch hours of television showed a dedication and determination unseen in the rafters. Nesbitt also spent the weekend fighting a debilitating bout of mono, a feat of greater strength than anything the rest of her class was doing in West Virginia.
Sarah Mae Selnick 13 was also industrious while her classmates were frittering the weekend away: catching up on her school reading, getting in some extra sleep, and watching many movies (educational ones and documentaries, certainly). She also put in some quality bonding time with her mother, which was definitely more constructive than the euchre her classmates were playing.
And while the rest of the class of 2013 was on a bus to West Virginia, real achievements were being made by the Mens Varsity Golf Team. As Sam Hall 13 put it, while you were out rafting, the golf team was out winning the MVC tournament. The team played exceptionally well, and Michael Barton 13 was rewarded for forgoing the Junior Rafting Trip
with an excellent score, coming in third overall.
When 2/3rds of the grade was off wasting their time in Bananagrams, excessive eating, Frisbee, and footfall, the other third, as seen by these few illustrative examples, was being productive, constructive, and successful.
