CCDS Upper School winter formal will be held from 8:00- 11:00 at “Club Grant” on the Keeler stage Saturday 29. With great music picked out and a well decorated dance floor, “It’s sure to be one heck of a night,” said Grant Hesser ’11, Club Grant DJ, where “the great music will just keep on coming.”
Social Chairs Elizabeth Blackburn ’11, and Claire Heinichen ’11, “had a lot of theme ideas, from disco, to rave to club, but we didn’t want to focus on any one in particular,” said Heinichen, “so we decided to keep the decorations fun and just try to make it a really nice area.”
This dance “should be a lot different from any other dance,” said Heinichen. “From music to set up, [everything] will be newer, and we have a few surprises up our sleeves.”
Hesser said that he has “several things planned for the evening.” He will have the “high intensity music that most people love” and he will also be handing out free prizes “to people who have been dancing the longest/best.”
While some may be worried about Hesser’s control over the playlist, he said “he can assure that the music situation is completely under control.” Hesser believes he can distance himself from his personal music preferences and “play the music that everybody wants to hear.”
Heinichen said that Grant was chosen as the DJ for “Club Grant”—a title he ironically “despises”—because students have repeatedly been disappointed in the hired DJs, and “Grant really wanted to give it a try. He’s so in to it—he’s been working on the playlist for months!”
Hesser hopes that “everyone has an amazing time at this dance and that [he] can live up to the hype that [he] created with [his] announcement.”
Hesser added that Glenn Lindahl has been an immense help to setting up for the dance and deserves a “thanks” from the students.
