The CCDS men’s golf team placed eighth out of 12 in the 2010 OHSAA Boys Division III State Golf Tournament on Saturday, October, 16th at NorthStar Golf Resort in Sunbury, Ohio. Seniors Andrew McElhinney and Devin Sutton (pictured), junior Kyle Pruis, sophomore Sam Hall, and freshman Ishan Ghildyal made the trek looking to hold their own among Ohio’s best Divison III golf teams. Individually, McElhinney, Pruis, and Ghildyal placed in the top 30 out of 72 players. The team’s first day score through 18 holes was 352, led by Andrew McElhinney’s score of 83. Kyle Pruis led the team with an 80 on the second day, and the team shot a collective 339, a significant improvement over the first round score. Shooting a 691 over 36 holes, CCDS finished seven strokes ahead of ninth place Summit Country Day, who they lost to by two strokes in a tiebreaker at the district tournament. The impressive district and state finishes capped off a phenomenal final season for Head Coach Katy Loomis, who will be moving to Pittsburgh after a remarkably successful four-year tenure.
