About the Book: The Do-Over is a standalone young adult rom-com following Emilie Hornby on a disastrous Valentine’s Day. After everything that could’ve gone wrong on Valentine’s Day actually happened, Emilie slept over at her grandma’s house hoping everything would be better the next day. Only, there was no next day. When she woke up, it was still February 14th. She repeats the same nightmare every day until she decides to embrace it.
My review: 5/5 stars
This book was one of the cutest books I’ve ever read, which is to be expected from Lynn Painter, who’s written some of my favorite books. I loved the premise and Emilie was so relatable. She had amazing banter with Nick, and they clicked in ways I loved. I finished it in one sitting because it was so fast-paced and engaging. It was short enough so it didn’t feel dragged out, but the author did an amazing job of developing Emilie and Nick’s relationship so it didn’t feel forced. I’m so glad I annotated this book, because there were so many cute moments and quotes that I want to remember. It also had a playlist that fit the book perfectly and such cute character art on the inside.
