One of the greatest trends making a comeback right now are scrunchies. Walking around at school you can see many girls rocking one either in their hair or just around their wrist. In the 90’s scrunchies were deemed ugly and childish, but, like the protagonists of 90’s chick flicks, scrunchies went from geek to chic this year. Many stores are selling them for affordable prices. Recently celebrities like Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid are sporting them in a casual bun or pony. A recent breakthroughs was when Maddie Zeigler elevated the black scrunchie, wearing one to the 2018 Teen Choice Awards.

Chokers are another trend that are BACK. Celebrities are wearing them not only for parties and events, but also on the streets of New York City and LA. They can go with everything from a t-shirt to an elegant gown. Truly versatile accessories, chokers are also all over the red carpet right now. These necklaces are an affordable and easy trend that anyone can rock.

Animal print was one of the major trends of the early 2000’s: after a 10 year hiatus, it is back! On the runway models are rocking various prints: leopard, tiger, zebra, etc. Once again, celebrities are wearing this trend for both casual and dressy settings. Sometimes these patterns are so subtle they go unnoticed. For example this one-shoulder jumpsuit from Stella McCartney hints a subtle leopard print; Overall the piece is wearable straight off the runway. Meanwhile Donatella Versace and Miuccia Prada are making bold statements with outfits that scream animal.

A trend long abandoned, neon has started to make a thriving comeback. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian have started wearing clothing and surprisingly—wigs. Her Instagram is filled with pictures of pink, yellow, and green fluorescent bodysuits, dresses, and bikinis. Bright yellows and greens are also hitting the runway, through both clothes and makeup. It’s fresh to see that green and yellow eye-makeup, generally avoided by makeup artists since they’re hard to coordinate with other colors, are taking the spotlight for the first time in fashion history. Since theatrical eyeshadow is currently en vogue, makeup artists are sporting neon makeup looks all over Instagram.

A makeup trend making a huge comeback is blush. In the modern era, when contouring and bronzing became prevalent, blush became less necessary and went out of style. However as natural makeup has come back in style (thanks to brands like Glossier), it has brought blush back with it. Liquid and cream blushes are especially popular today due to their natural finish.

Due to the infamous matte and liquid lipsticks that have been trending since they hit the market, lipgloss has gone out of style until now. Lipgloss is having a major comeback, and with it has come the glossy eyeshadow trend™️. Although this trend is hardly ‘wearable’ due to the sticky texture, it has been all over lately, on the runway as well as on every major social media platform. It can be achieved by using a tiny brush to apply lipgloss over powder eyeshadow. This new technique adds dimension to the eyes as well as gives the face a more natural finish. *Sings* They say my lipgloss is cool, My lipgloss be poppin!
