A group of Country Day Middle School boys showed initiative within the past few months coordinating bake sales and planning events outside of school to raise money for the Save the Animals Foundation. The boys in the group include Drew Bagnoli ‘22, Max Berghausen ‘23, and Wilson Bagnoli ‘24.
Although the boys only started raising money as a group within this school year, Berghausen had raised money beforehand. The Save the Animals Foundation or STAF is a no-kill shelter for animals. They are a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that gives cats and dogs a second chance at life. All donations are used in the treatment and care of the animals, and donations are the only income the foundation has. The boys chose STAF because of their mutual love of animals.
These boys did not stay within the school; they took advantage of the snow that did shower, and shoveled driveways, and when the weather was not too bad, they would also be paid to do some yardwork. By the time they were ready to send the money to the Save the Animals Foundation, the boys had raised a grand total of $1,833.
When asked if they were going to continue raising money, Bagnoli replied, “Yes, we will continue through the years, as long as we can.”
