Almost everyone in the Upper School wears jeans. Throughout the month of February, there were boxes in the Upper School used to collect jeans. This was part of an initiative that Haven Watson ’16 brought to the Country Day community.
Beginning seven years ago, Teens for Jeans has been endorsed by Aeropostale. The goal of Teens for Jeans is “to raise awareness of the amount of homeless teens that are in the US – which is a lot.” Noticing the popular trend to wear jeans, Watson knew that it would be something that the CCD community would be able to help with. She came across the program while looking for scholarships.
By the end of February, fifty three jeans were collected. Watson sent the jeans to MEAC, where they will be later given to homeless teens. Watson believes that, “As teens with a roof over our heads, we all have at least one pair of jeans if not like ten, so just to donate a basic but essential item to those who need it more than we do is something we can do to give back.”
Cincinnati Country Day was one of the 54,733 schools that participated in the Teens for Jeans Program.
