So, this past weekend I got the chance to go to LA. Exciting, right? But that’s not the exciting part. The exciting part is what I picked up in LA— a Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour.
Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour is the brand new, re-formulated version of Chanel’s classic Rouge Coco. Formulated with “jojoba and mimosa butters, sunflower wax and silicone for lasting hydration and luminous results,” (http://goo.gl/HcfvHx) this lipstick was hydrating, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. While it didn’t last all day on me, it did last for a bit longer than the average hydrating lipstick and I could wear it without having to retouch for about 4 or 5 hours if I wasn’t eating or drinking. It comes in a gorgeous, shiny, black tube with a gold band around the middle and has the Chanel logo on the top of the tube. The lipstick itself is rose scented and has CHANEL engraved on it. It retails for $37 in the US.
Marlène is a breathtakingly soft warm rose color with gold shimmer in it. Not only is the color to die for, but so is everything else about it (and really, what about anything Chanel isn’t to die for?). Marlène is a gorgeous cream lipstick perfect for the everyday and the not-so-everyday. The color pay-off is semi-sheer but buildable if so desired. I think that one swipe is perfect for everyday use as it gives a nice “your lips but better” color. For the not-so-everyday, just add on a few extra swipes of it and you’ll get a beautifully luminous, opaque, pink lip. While not glittery or frosty, there is some shimmer. But that is actually the best part of it as this shimmer is what provides that beautiful glow!
So, the story behind this is that I was on Rodeo Drive and really wanted to get my mom a nice gift. I had looked up Chanel makeup in the past through second hand websites. While expensive, it wasn’t that expensive, so I thought that I should at least check it out in store. And let me tell you something, if you walk into that Chanel store, you’re going to walk out with something from that Chanel store. The store windows and setup looked gorgeous, the people working there were gorgeous, and most importantly, the products were gorgeous. I went in very unfamiliar with Chanel makeup products. I asked a lot of questions and spent a lot of time picking up one product, examining it, and then putting it down again. But all of the people working there were super nice, friendly, and helpful. And soon enough I had picked out a product for my mom.
So, then I left the Chanel store with my purchase and walked around Rodeo Dive with my friends some more. And the longer I was out of the Chanel store, the more I realized that I was going to have some serious buyers regret if I didn’t haul back to the store and pick up a product for myself. I was originally interested in one of the lip stains but they happened to be sold out of the color that I wanted. So then I did my thing and picked up some more products, and examined them, and put them down again and finally I came upon a color that I was happy with—Marlène.
