The Art Department welcomes its newest member: Mrs. Amy Brand. An Upper School art teacher, Mrs. Brand is from Pennsylvania and is accompanied by her husband and two children (ages 3 and 5). Teaching comes naturally to Mrs. Brand, as her mom was a teacher and she spent lots of time with her in the classroom. In addition to spending lots of time with her mom in the classroom, Mrs. Brand also worked at summer camps. With a love for art, learning, and being able to share what you are passionate about with other people, becoming an art teacher was her calling.
Before joining Country Day, Mrs. Brand worked at the Perkiomen School for four years before taking some time off to spend time with her two young kids. Although Mrs. Brand is full of exciting ideas, she wants to take some time to see how much knowledge and technique students have and wants to instill the basics that students can build upon. As a goal for the year, she is hoping to do more 3D/sculpture work. Alongside art, Mrs. Brand has always been fond of anything involving creativity and arts, including writing stories or poetry, to playing instruments.
