Like most students at Country Day, I am always trying to figure out if G comes before H, or E comes before D, or what random string of letters my day will consist of. At some point during my Sophomore year, I gave up on trying to memorize the schedule and now follow a method I like to call “poll the audience.” Step 1: proceed with the swarm of people moving to their next class. Step 2: ask every fourth person that passes by which bell comes next. Step 3: tally up the votes. I’ve found this method to have an 85% success rate, but every once in a while you end up with a 50/50 where half the people say its G and half the people says its H. In this case, half the people are right but you don’t know which half that is. If this happens, skip to the “phone a friend” method: walk around until you find someone from your class and follow them. Luckily, in most cases, making an error is relatively harmless. Worst case scenario you walk into the wrong class, realize you make a mistake, and walk out.
