This has been a wonderful year for Country Day sports teams. Let’s have a look what we have done in this productive year!

In the fall, the Varsity Cross Country Team’s performance was wonderful. Both boys and girls teams earned third place in the Country Day Cross Country Invitational and first place in the Goshen Invitational race. In the Blanchester Invitational, the boys’ team won by a wide margin, and the girls finished second. The Boys’ Varsity Football Team achieved their second straight undefeated regular season. On the Girls’ Golf Team, Senior Kacie Bradfish ‘15 carded a 77 in the Ohio State High School Division II Golf Tournament for an eighth place finish. The Boys’ Golf Team also had a good year. Coach Greg Faulhaber said after the district tournament, “I have never been so proud of a golf team as I was of the boys today. They left everything on the course today, bettering their best round of the season by a whopping nine shots.” The Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team won the district finals. They eventually lost in the Regional Semifinal, but still finished their season with a dominant 17-3 record. The Girls’ Soccer Team made it into the regional finals with a 15-4-2 record for their season. Also, Coach Theresa Hirschauer got her 300th victory with the team. A young Girls’ Volleyball Team improved greatly throughout the season. They won four games in a row at one point during the season. The Girls’ Tennis Team had a tough year, highlighted by a close win over Wyoming and 2nd place finish in the GCTCA Coaches Classic Tournament.

During the winter, the Boys’ Basketball Team made it to the Sectional Semifinal of the OHSAA State Tournament. They ended their season with a 17-7 record, winning the MVC Gray Division. On the swimming team, Allie Wooden won two state titles in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events at the Ohio State High School Swimming and Diving Championships. The gymnastics team, with strong senior leadership, finished 12th out of 33 schools in the sectional. A Boys’ Wrestling Team consisting of only freshman competed at MVC Championship and earned second and third place. The Girls’ Basketball Team made it into the second round of the Sectional Tournament, even though they had no seniors.

In the spring season, the Boys’ Baseball Team had an amazing season, reaching the Regional Finals. Also, Mr. Dunn earned his 500th victory as coach. The softball team had a great year, finishing with an 11-7 record, before losing in the Sectional Final. The Boys’ Track and Field team took first place at the MVC Championship, while the girls took fourth place. The boys’ also won the District Championship, while the girls finished third. The Boys’ Lacrosse Team finished the season with an 8-7 record, and the girls’ with a 5-9-1 record. The Boys’ Lacrosse Team will lose no seniors next year. On the crew team, Celia Macrae ‘15 competed in the Women’s Varsity 1X Division and finished in second place in the grand finale of the Scholastic Rowing Association championships in New Jersey. Kailas Menon ‘15 competed in the Men’s Varsity 1X division and finished in fifth place in the grand finale.
