The end of spring marks the time we must say good-bye to our seniors. The Clap Out has been a school tradition for many years. This is a school-wide event in which the seniors walk throughout the school, surrounded by past and present teachers, students from all divisions, and their families. Each student wears apparel from their college. Before the actual “clapping” occurred, the Upper School student body met in the Keeler Theatre where the Student Body President, Will Cohen, gave his last speech to the entire Upper School. Will included advice to each grade, and really conveyed how special Country Day really is.
“The Clap Out is a fantastic tradition that my friends and I have been looking forward to since we were in Lower School. Seeing our teachers, younger friends, and family clap us out was a truly bittersweet moment.” said Hannah Taylor ’15. Hannah is going to be attending Saint Andrews in Scotland in the fall.
Not only does the Clap Out allow us to congratulate the seniors, but it also demonstrates that hard work results in great rewards.
