After a rough regular season, the Country Day boys’ Varsity Golf team ended the season on a high note with a fourth place finish at the District Championships. The week prior to Districts, the team competed in the Southwest Sectional Championship, where it narrowly qualified for the District Championship. The boys tied Cincinnati Christian School with their four lowest scores, requiring a tiebreaker. Freshman John Pettengill’s 92 was the fifth score that qualified the team for the District Championship. At Districts, everyone was able to shoot low enough scores to keep us in contention for the second qualifying spot for the state tournament. Pettengill had the lowest round of the team, finishing with an 81. Alexander Maier ’15 was not far behind John with an 82. Taylor Maier ’15 finished third for the team with a score of 86. Jack Gardner ’18 had the fourth lowest score that counted, a 92. Hunter Folan ’17 finished with a good round of 94. This was a very good match for the team overall: it was their lowest 18-hole round of the year. This year’s team score was also lower than the team score from last year. Coach Greg Faulhaber gave the boys a goal of shooting a total of 336. They were not far off of the goal score by shooting a 341. Good job and best of luck next year.
