Fall Nail Styles

Fall+Nail+Styles

When summer ends and fall begins, the color scheme completely changes from bright pinks, nudes, and turquoise to much cooler browns, deep reds, and purples. Although in the past, these colors have been much warmer tones, this season we are seeing a lot of cooler-toned greys, mauves, and cranberry colors, as merely a base for the intricate accessories seen at New York Fashion Week this year. Nails have swept the fashion stages in recent years, and are frequently showcased as an accessory themselves.

A model for the new Mark Jacobs campaign sported maroon nails with metallic accents. Another nail look was a dark grey polish with jewel embellishments. A look from Prabal Gurung was a simpler take, the model’s fall nails were short and only the bottom half was painted in a light gray, making the nails look as if they were dipped in paint. A look for Christian Sirano was a modern ombre: with brown near the cuticle and tips, and a pastel purple near the middle, combing both fall and summer colors to make a truly stunning manicure. A look for Tibi was so simple that only the pointer fingers were painted a fiery orange color. Another model’s nails were painted all black and connected by two metal chains for Plein, a look that we have seen before on celebrities like Kim Kardashian. With all of the eccentric nail designs this season, I can’t imagine what the nail trends will follow next season.
